THE STANDARD FOR COCONUT PRODUCTS IN AGRICULTURE, WASTEWATER TREATMENT, AIR PURIFICATION, METAL RECOVERY, HEALTH & WELLNESS INDUSTRIES
Regenco is an importer of high-quality agricultural materials that regenerate our soil, purify our air and clean our water. We source our products in the Philippines, where we oversee and enforce responsible, organic and sustainable farming of our coconut trees. We harvest coconut fruit from 15 to 20-ft mature trees that have been flourishing in fertile, tropical soils.
Our state-of-the-art processing of the coconut fruit ensures you receive quality product that has been tested for purity and effectiveness compared to others. We invite third-party testing (links below).
From our farms to you, we give you the regenerative powers of the coconut.
ACTIVATED CARBON: Coconut-derived activated carbon is durable, generates significantly less ash during carbonization and activation and has a much higher internal surface area compared to other forms of activated carbon. The internal pore structure gives activated carbon (AC) extensive surface area for the adsorption of chemicals in fluid. The distribution of the types of pores can also be adjusted based on the intended usage. This is usually measured using our Sorption Outgassing Equipment. Some of the terminology below is associated with activated carbon:
Ash content - a higher ash content of processed activated carbon increases the acidity of the product. Washing the ash with potable water ensures that the adsorption effectiveness is not compromised.
Micropore (diameter is <2 nm) - micropores in large numbers increases the effective surface area of the activated carbon.
Mesopore (diameter between 2 nm and 50 nm) - mesoporous activated carbon finds its application in energy-storage (batteries and supercapacitors), biosensors, fuel cells, adsorption/separation of various molecules, catalysts/catalyst support, enzyme immobilization, and drug delivery.
Anode - the positive terminal of a battery.
Cathode - the negative terminal of a battery.
Electrolyte - separates the Anode and Cathode, and permits the flow of electrons in a battery.
Sieved Size - the gradational size of activated carbon granules have specific benefits to different applications. In some industries, the conductive potential of activated carbon as electrodes for supercapacitors is based on the number of mesopores rather than micropores. In air treatment purification, a certain number and distribution of micro and mesopores are needed to facilitate air flow and contact as much surface area as possible
Gradation - the distribution of particle sizes in a granular material. Poorly-sorted gradation has grains mainly the same particle sizes and creates more voids when packed. Well-sorted has a good distribution of the different particle sizes which creates lesser voids when packed.
Mesh/Sieve sizes - the different sieve sizes below separates the grain sizes between the larger and smaller particles (large mesh x small mesh) in a granular bulk of materials - in this case granular activated carbon.
COCONUT COIR (also known as coco fiber): The young coconut husk cover the outer portion of the fruit. The outer "green" portion is coarse and fibrous - this is typically spun and made into twine, rope, mats, baskets, brooms, and other useful household items. The inner portion, also called the coco pith, is finer and typically used in the production of coco peat, coco plant bedding, worm bedding, and other agricultural items. Because of the excellent moisture retention, nutritive value and aeration properties of coir even when processed, they are the best substitute or can replace soil and other plant growing mediums. In comparison, rock wool is not renewable, may be carcinogenic if it contains ceramic fibers, and can potentially affect skin, eyes and the respiratory system.
COCONUT OIL: Virgin coconut oil is rich in saturated and unsaturated fats. The breakdown of coconut oil fatty acids for chemistry lovers: Caprylic acid C -8:0 (8%), Capric acid, C-10:0,(7%), Lauric acid C-12:0, (49%), Myristic acid C-14:0(8%), Palmitic acid C-16:0 (8%), Stearic acid C-18:0 (2%), Oleic acid C-18:1 (6%) and 2% of C-18:2 Linoleic acid. Only Capric acid and Caprylic acid are unsaturated fats, they are specifically known as medium chain triglycerides (MCTs). The rest are saturated fats and may increase the HDL (bad cholesterol) in the body.
Fractionation of this oil separates the MCTs from the oil and may be used as a healthier alternative. Because only 15% of the oil is harvested during the fractionation process, it has a higher value than regular coconut oil. Fractionated coconut oil is liquid in room temperature, non-greasy, and absorbs into the skin/hair quickly. As a food source, they are touted in the industry as a fat-burning, promotes satiety (fullness), increases focus and memory. MCTs are converted into ketones, which the body uses to burn fat for energy. Ketogenic diets typically incorporates MCTs so that instead of carbohydrates, the body burns fat for energy.
WOOD VINEGAR: A byproduct of pyrolysis during the process of turning coconut shells into charcoal, wood vinegar is a mixture of compounds that is acidic (pH = 3) by nature. The smoke generated from the process of turning the coconut shells into charcoal is collected and condensed. The tar, oils and other byproducts are separated from the condensed liquid and is further refined to wood vinegar. It contains 200 organic compounds that work synergistically to feed the soil, improving the flowering and fruit quality of trees and plants. It is a fertilizer, pesticide, and plant bio-stimulant in one, strengthening roots, stems, tubers and leaves and increasing fruit production.
Pesticide: Wood vinegar is an organic pesticide that can protect against plant diseases, harmful insects, fungi, and bacteria. It's also larvicidal and can suppress bacteria that grow in litter or dung. Plant bio-stimulant: Wood vinegar can help control plant growth and accelerate plant development. At recommended rates, it's safe for living things in the food chain, especially pollinating insects. Wood vinegar can also increase the amount of useful microbes in soil, which can improve the soil's chemical, physical, and biological characteristics.
When used as animal bedding, digestate enriched with wood vinegar can reduce calf scours and repel drosophila.
Wood Vinegar has been shown to reduce foul odors.
Wood vinegar, used in the right dosages, may help with indigestion, bowel movement, mitigate infections, lower or eliminate inflammation and gout - although these may not have been substantiated with controlled testing.
COCONUT WATER (COMING SOON): Coconut water is not offered at the moment due to high costs to package and preserve freshness during shipping. Coco water is filled with electrolytes such as potassium, sodium, and magnesium. It has a small amount of carbohydrates and protein as well. In fact, coco water has more than 3 times the amount of potassium in bananas! Practical uses include treating patients afflicted with dehydration.
Our products have applications in many industries. Some of those applications may not be as apparent, but its important contribution cannot be ignored.
Wastewater Treatment
Activated Carbon typical use includes the removal of chlorine, volatile organic compounds, heavy metals (such as mercury, cadmium, copper, nickel, arsenic and lead), and some organic pollutants in wastewater/groundwater. It is useful in clarifying water, removing color, taste and smell.
Air Purification
Activated Carbon removes carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen, ammonia, smells, dust, pollen, vapors and other impurities in the air. In a wastewater/groundwater treatment facility, activated carbon can also be used to clean effluent air produced during the treatment process.
Metal Recovery
Activated Carbon is essential in the recovery of precious rare earth and base metals, including gold, silver, copper, nickel, zinc and uranium from ore, waste and reclaim streams. In fact, powdered activated carbon is used in the medical field for adsorbing metal contaminants in the body.
Industrial and Health
Activated Carbon can be impregnated with different chemicals to protect the worker from toxic gases during production. In emergency situations, impregnated activated carbon in respirator filters block out these hazardous gases. As with metal recovery, activated carbon is used in the medical field for adsorbing metal & other poisons in the body.
Agriculture
Coco coir can be used as fertilizer, plant bedding material, seedling mats, or regenerative material for soils. Our coir is shipped pH neutral so the customer can adjust the pH according to the application.
Pyroligneous Acid (a.k.a. liquid smoke, wood vinegar) is a potent plant/tree Biostimulant, compost accelerator and Herbicide
Sustainability
Coco coir can be used to seed composting toilets. Coir reduces the smell and increases the digestion of waste. Other uses include scrubbing off hydrogen sulfide from extracted methane gas in a biodigester system.
Cosmetics & Wellness
Fractionated coconut oil can be used in make-up, lotions and moisturizers, soaps and shampoos. These oils are also good in make-up removal. MCT (medium chain triglycerides) is a fat burning energy source that also promotes energy and focus.
Food Industry
Our coconut oil can be used in baked goods, frying, and other methods of cooking. Since saturated fats in virgin coconut oil has been given a negative reputation, MCTs is now used widely as a healthier alternative.
